Slope rockfall protection hexagonal gabion netting / rockfall stone cage
Product Description:
An economic and efficient solution for slope stabilization is to use protector gabion mattresses. Various structural modifications can be implemented, depending on the nature of the slope.
A wide range of mesh fabric is available to solve each specific problem. The netting can be used in both single and double layers, and also can be reinforced with cables and vertical, flexible catch fences. Further vegetation can therefore be encouraged to grow, thus stabilizing the loose soil and rocks.
The mesh for rockfall protection is manufactured to the same standards as gabion mesh and can be supplied in a full range of mesh sizes and diameters to suit the size and weight of debris expected.
The mesh is made of heavily zinc coated, Galfan, Heavy Zinc+PVC or Galfan+PVC coated double twisted steel woven wire. Due to the characteristics of double twist, the steel wire netting can withstand the force of falling rocks without unraveling in the event of wire breakage.
In addition Gabion walls can be constructed at the toe of cliffs to protect roads, railways, buildings or other important infrastructure from falling rocks.

Advantages:
1. FLEXIBLE
The hexagonal mesh construction permits natural adjustment to varying conditions of earth settlement without causing fracture or collapse of the structure.
2. PERMEABLE
A Gabion structure allows water to pass through, water pressure cannot build up behind it and the structure is continuously drained.
3. STRONG
The flexibility of the Gabion structure provides the inherent strength
4. ECONOMICAL
Filling materials are usually found on or near the site. No structural maintenance is needed and foundation work is usually unnecessary.
5. NATURAL APPEARANCE
Natural stone makes the structure aesthetically pleasing especially when subsequent vegetation growth takes place.
6. SIMPLE
Unskilled labour can be used for quick assembly.
Gabion application:
The Galfan gabion boxes or mattresses are filled with stones at the project site to form flexible, permeable, monolithic structures such as retaining walls, channel linings, and weirs for erosion control projects.
